To start with, tell us who Jelena is privately and professionally?
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring new ideas and activities that enable personal growth. I find inspiration in everyday moments around me, discovering beauty and creativity in the small things. As someone who chose architectural visualization as a career path, I strive to bring unique creativity and expertise to every project I shape. I continuously explore new perspectives and approaches to enrich spaces and transform ideas into reality, bringing fresh aesthetics and innovation to the industry.
How did your love for architecture begin, and how did your story start?
My love for architecture began in childhood; I was fascinated by the interplay of shapes and spaces around me. During my undergraduate and master’s studies in architecture, this passion only grew, and my journey started with exploration and creation, always striving to achieve harmony between aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability in every project. My curiosity about rendering arose from a desire to further animate and better present my ideas, not expecting it to become my life’s calling.
Today, you are the founder of the architectural visualization studio Future 3D S.P. Banja Luka. What was the journey to success like?
The journey to success was challenging but inspiring. Every step on this path was paved with passion, dedication, and continuous learning. From founding Future 3D S.P. in Banja Luka to achieving success, every project was an opportunity for growth and development, both professionally and personally. Through innovative ideas, constant commitment to quality, and a personal approach to each client, visions were successfully realized and the specific needs of clients were met. Architectural visualization allows for a detailed depiction of project ideas, helping clients better understand plans and identify with the future space more easily.
How did you muster the courage to start your own firm?
The decision to start my own architectural visualization firm was a bold step but also a natural evolution of my professional path. After years of working in the 3D industry, I felt the need to express my creativity and vision in my own way, without limitations. The decision was made after careful consideration and planning, with the support of family and mentors, and belief in my own abilities and passion for the work I do.
What services do you offer?
At Future 3D studio, architectural visualization and animation are key services that facilitate communication and contribute to better understanding between architects, clients, investors, and the general public. Additionally, these services allow clients to clearly see the final look of the project and make decision-making easier. Providing a realistic depiction of future spaces ensures a clearer presentation of ideas, identification of potential problems before construction begins, and encourages creativity and innovation. These services are also used for marketing purposes, enabling more efficient communication among all involved parties, resulting in accelerated project progress. Additionally, Future 3D studio offers product visualization and animation services, as well as interior design services. Therefore, the clientele includes architects, product designers, investors, marketing agencies, and other creatives who want to visualize their ideas or start marketing activities before implementation.
In your opinion, what is architecture like in Bosnia and Herzegovina?
In my opinion, architecture in Bosnia and Herzegovina has a rich cultural heritage but faces challenges in terms of urban planning, heritage preservation, and the application of sustainable practices. However, there is great potential for innovation and development in this field, and architectural visualization can be a key tool in promoting new ideas and projects and raising public awareness about the importance of architecture and architects in society as a whole.
Do you have role models in architecture?
Yes, I have role models in architecture whose works inspire me with their creativity, functionality, and aesthetics, such as Zaha Hadid, Bjarke Ingels, and Norman Foster. Their ability to convey their ideas through architectural visualization is truly fascinating. The use of 3D programs and architectural visualization is becoming increasingly significant in project presentation, as it allows for a more detailed insight into planned spaces and contributes to better understanding of the concept among all involved parties. Inspired by these role models, I use the same approach in the projects I am engaged in, striving to clearly convey ideas and visions through architectural visualization, so that the result is as close to expectations and as inspiring as possible.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
A workday usually starts early in the morning with a cup of my favorite tea, focusing on planning daily tasks. After that, I dedicate time to developing project ideas and concepts, often using architectural visualization to clearly convey the client’s ideas and vision to the general public. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities for creative expression, and satisfied clients further inspire me to continue working with dedication and enthusiasm.
What projects are you currently working on, and which are upcoming?
I am currently engaged in projects of various scales, encompassing both international and domestic clients. As an architect and expert in the field of architectural visualization, I actively improve myself by following the latest trends and technologies. This commitment allows me to provide high-quality services to my clients, regardless of the complexity or size of the project. Additionally, I proudly mention that I was selected as one of the five women from Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in an international mentoring program for women entrepreneurs, supported by the United Nations. This opportunity, along with the nomination of a project I worked on for the German Sustainability Award in 2022, represents not only great recognition for my work and dedication but also a source of great excitement and inspiration for further professional development.
